Looe is at the end of a quaint branch line, its estuary, island and sandy beaches and nearby Polperro attracting visitors. Forest Railroad Park, Dobwalls near Liskeard, has American railways in miniature, open Easter-October. Truro is Cornwall's cathedral city and a busy commercial centre, and Falmouth, terminus of the branch line from Truro, is both a seaport and a holiday town. It has one of the best natural harbours. Places of interest are the Maritime and Military Vehicle museums, Pendennis Castle and Wendron Forge.

Newquay is the largest Cornish resort with unrivalled white sandy beaches and a boisterous surfing sea.

Helford River and Passage, a very peaceful stretch of water, with hidden creeks and wooded banks, the setting for Daphne du Maurier's Frenchman's Creek.

Helston is home of the Cornish Flora, Floral of Furry Dance held each 8 May when dressed up locals dance up and down the streets. Also has Cornwall Aero Park and a museum in the Old Butter Market.

Camborne-Redruth. Those who like to see old engines and mines will find a winding engine and a pumping engine well preserved at Pool. Richard Trevithick, the engineer, was born here; William Murdoch in Redruth was the first man in Britain to gaslight a house. A pottery, tannery and the Gwennap Pit are places to visit. The Pit is an amphitheatre in which John Wesley preached.
