Pavilion and Opera House. Well laid-out gardens and the centre for entertainment. Each year there is a festival of opera, music and drama at the end of July.

Micrarium. Open March-November. Snowflakes, diatoms, marram grass, transparent water fleas and much more revealed under some forty microscopes.

Buxton Railway Museum. Open April-October. Situated almost in the railway station yard. More a transport museum with cars, motor cycles and commercial vehicles as well as railwayana. Poole's Cavern. Open Easter-November. A large natural cave with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites as well as 100 acres of natural woodland and a country park with a nature trail. Buxton Museum. Lots of local interest including Blue John ware - one of the rarest stones mined about the Peak District and used by the Romans.

Leisure Activities

Boating, bowls, cycling (hire), dancing, fishing, two golf courses, riding, swimming and tennis.
